Yesterday our new LPG rig pump arrived, but open attempting to fit it, Chris discovered that the connection was leaking. After many desperate phone calls to everyone we knew in the business, we finally found a company in Halifax who will visit us next week and hopefully replace the faulty connection. However, he has to bring a tankard with him to put the LPG in, while he mends the tank.

Last week our pump failed on our LPG rig which has meant that we have been unable to fill refillable LPG bottles. This has been incredibly annoying, but this was the original pump that came with the rig many years ago. A new pump has been ordered, but sadly may not be with us until the end of February. As soon as the rig is working again, we will announce it here and on social media.
We have just published a new page on the 'Caravanning Help & Information'
page called 'Winter Holidays'. Please check it out if you are going away over winter as it has a few basic tips. Due to our workload, our annual holidays are often in the colder months, so we do have some experience of getting away in the snow. The front page of our website at present shows our van in Switzerland a few years ago, where we had a memorable holiday in the snow. As services begin to build up, here is a bit of inside information about what we offer.
A common issue with a caravan of any age is when the Bowden Cables rub on the chassis. Bowden Cables are sheathed cable (similar to bicycle brake cable) which physically pull the brakes on or off. They are situated through access holes in the chassis, and if not perfectly seated they can rub. The only way to cure this is to fit sacrificial hose around the brake cable. The sheathing usually lasts 4-5 years, but the cost difference is vastly different. An axle set of Bowden Cables can cost up to £100 fitted, compared to the sheathing which costs just £2.50 per axle set fitted. When needed on a running gear, we fit the sheathing as standard. In August 2019 Lunar was acquired by South African specialist engineering group MEWA and became Lunar Automotive Ltd.
By way of clarification in relation to ongoing servicing and warranty Lunar Automotive Ltd have confirmed the following. Lunar model years 2017, 2018, 2019 only: Lunar Caravan models from years 2017, 2018, 2019 will be covered by the new company. This cover is only for 3 years from original date of purchase (if the customer is the second owner, the cover will start from the original purchase date of the first owner). The supplying dealer, must be remaining as a Lunar Automotive dealer for this cover to apply. Under this level of cover, any warranty claims can now only be submitted by the supplying dealer. No claims will be accepted by AWS Approved Workshops for 2017, 2018 and 2019 models. Servicing for these model years - the customer must check with their supplying dealer that they are happy for services to be carried out by an Approved Engineer. Lunar Automotive 2020 models onwards: As before, any potential warranty repairs can be carried out by either the supplying dealer or an AWS approved workshop. Servicing can be carried out by an AWS Approved Workshop. Even though work has finally calmed down here,
we have found several items of interest for our followers. This week were very happy to hear that one of our customers, Mr David Williams, has been awarded the Rushcliffe Borough Council volunteer award for 2019. We collect our plastic that can be recyled, which David collects and transforms it into cash which is donated to the Dove Cottage Hospice. It is not a lot, but at least we feal we are doing something to help others. Today we also found a video showing the new Gedling Access Road which will begin construction in January 2020. It looks as if this could cause some traffic problems over the next year or so, but will hoepfully be worth it in the end. We have added the video to our favorites on our YouTube channel. Oh, and of course there is the small matter of a general election, but we will not get into a political discussion here. We are trying out a slightly new look for our website, and have moved all the previous blogs to our new section Caravanning Help & Information. There you will find our previous messages, a bit better organized, so that hopefully you will be able to find the help you need a bit easier. Please bear with us as we get all the details transferred over.
The Blog page will now become a more random mixture of our messages, thoughts and more general information about ourselves. |
